The Chiesa del Sacro Cuore di Gesù (Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) is in Prati and it is known as Chiesa del Sacro Cuore del Suffragio (Church of the Sacred Heart of the Suffrage).
It is a catholic place of worship in the centre of Rome and it hosts the parish with the same name, entrusted to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
The church, designed by Giuseppe Gualandi, is sometimes referred as the little Milan Cathedral, due to its rich neogothic style.
Next to the church, within the sacristy, there is the Museo delle anime del Purgatorio (“Museum of the Souls of Purgatory”), the entry is a door on the right nave. On July the 2nd, in 1897, a miracle happened in the Chapel of the Association of the Sacred Heart of the Suffrage of the Purgatory Souls: during a fire, the soul of a deceaded appeared to the attendance and his effigy was impressed on the wall then Victor Jouët decided to search for witnesses (documents, looms) about the appearances of the souls of Purgatory and to collect them in a museum close to the church.
